Congratulations 2016 Florida Green Ribbon School and District Awardees!!

GRS Ceremony DC July 2016Congratulations to our incredible 2016 Florida Green Ribbon School and District Awardees!! On July 20th, the U.S. Secretary of Education John B. King, Jr. congratulated the U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools, District Sustainability Awardees, and Postsecondary Sustainability Awardees on their achievements during a ceremony in Washington, D.C.

Two Florida school districts out of 15 districts and one Florida school out of 47 schools received a sustainably-crafted plaque and were honored for their exemplary efforts to reduce environmental impact and costs, promote better health, and ensure effective environmental education. In addition, 11 colleges and universities were honored with the Postsecondary Sustainability Award. The 2016 Florida Green Ribbon School and District Sustainability Awardees are: Beachside Montessori Village, Hollywood, Broward County Public Schools; Alachua County Public Schools; and Orange County School District.

Congratulations to the 2016 Green Ribbon School and District FL Awardees!!!

Today at 2:00 pm Eastern Time, U.S. Secretary of Education John B. King Jr. and  Managing Director of the White House Council on Environmental Quality Christy Goldfuss announced the 2016 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools, District Sustainability Awardees.

Two Florida school districts and one school were among the awardees! In total, across the country, total of 47 schools, 15 districts, and 11 postsecondary institutions are being honored for their innovative efforts to reduce environmental impact and utility costs, improve health and wellness, and ensure effective sustainability education.

We present the 2016 Florida Green Ribbon School and District Sustainability Awardees:

  • Beachside Montessori Village, Hollywood, Broward County Public Schools
  • Alachua County Public Schools
  • Orange County School District

The 2016 honorees’ accomplishments will be celebrated during national recognition ceremony on July 20th at the U.S. Department of Commerce in D.C..
